A Greenwich police officer reportedly observed the black BMW swerve abruptly while heading south on Greenwich Avenue near Havemeyer Place on Friday, Aug. 16, at 10:27 p.m., police said.

A computer check of the car's registration plates reportedly revealed they did not match the car, according to the Greenwich Police Department.

The officer stopped the driver, Lucia Paz-Serrano, 40, of Stamford, who reportedly sid did not have a valid license, and had suspended driving privileges in Connecticut, said police.

Additionally, the car was being driven without insurance, according to Greenwich Police.

Paz-Serrano was arrested and charged with:

  • Operating under suspension
  • Operating a motor vehicle without a license
  • Misuse registration
  • Insufficient insurance
  • Unsafe movement/improper turn

She was given a court date of Monday, Aug 26 at Stamford Superior Court.

Paz-Serrano was unable to post her $250 bond and was held in Greenwich Police Department custody, said police.

Police reportedly determined that Paz-Serrano had an active warrant for her arrest, Greenwich Police said.

The warrant held that Paz-Serrano failed to make a court appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court pursuant to motor vehicle and violation of probation charges in Fairfield, said Greenwich Police.

Paz-Serrano was also charged with second-degree failure to appear with a court-set bond of $20,000, said Greenwich Police.

Paz-Serrano was arrested on this charge, unable to post bond, and given a Wednesday, Aug. 28 court date at Bridgeport courthouse.
